Memory & Alzheimer's Care in Pinellas Park, Florida
Grand Villa of Pinellas Park offers a state of the art Memory Care Neighborhood. Residents enjoy the services and amenities of our community, in a home-like environment that allows freedom of movement in an exit-controlled setting. Our state of the art medication and resident care technology provides peace of mind by helping to ensure that care is provided on time. A devoted care staff provides 24-hour compassionate care while always respecting privacy, dignity, and independence. Families are invited to participate in regular care meetings and support groups.
Residents live in private residences, or companion apartments with a roommate. The apartments are comfortable and inviting, and include many safety features. Each apartment is equipped with state of the art motion sensor lighting, which is activated during night time hours. The lighting system also includes special lights in the bathroom, which provide a guiding light at night. When a motion sensor is activated, an alert is sent to the caregivers who can then respond, as needed.
About the Memory Care Program
Our Memory Care program blends cutting edge technology and the most current research in memory care to create activities specifically for Alzheimer’s and dementia. Residents are involved in daily recreational and therapeutic activities, such as Dakim® Brain Fitness, music therapy, pet therapy, and sensory stimulation, to encourage independence and preserve dignity. We concentrate on familiar abilities to avoid frustration at not being able to accomplish an activity. We laugh, smile, and make eye contact and give lots of positive encouragement. If a resident becomes anxious or upset, we take a break. Below are two programs we have designed to support our Memory Care residents and their families.
Life Skill Stations
Our Memory Care Neighborhood includes specially designed areas that spark memories, interest, and interaction for our residents. Memory Care Life Skills Stations recreate familiar situations from the past — like a baby nursery, a garden, an office, or a hobby workbench. Memory Care residents become socially engaged in these familiar situations, which can sustain their memories as well as provide them with cognitive exercises and physical movement.
We have created a special environment where our residents are free to explore, touch, and choose their own activities. Our outdoor gardens, a screened porch area, and the entire Memory Care Neighborhood provide a meaningful way for residents to engage in their surroundings.
We encourage family members to visit often and participate in activities and programs. We believe family is an important part of a resident’s care team.
Short stays are available for a few days, a week, or longer. Respite Care residents enjoy all the services, amenities, and socialization benefits, while a family caregiver takes a break.
